St Alban’s Press is very pleased to announce it’s 4th edition of the Book of the Parochial Use.
The new edition will include the correction of errata discovered through use, and some revisions which ensure the authenticity of the material. The significant quality improvements of the 3rd edition, including a sewn binding for increased duribility and 'lay-flat' capabilities, a bonded leather cover, gold stamped on the spine with a decorative design, and three colour coded ribbons will remain.
This 800+ page volume represents six years of collaborative academic and practical study. It contains the complete round of services necessary for the administration of the Use of Sarum in a parish context. The whole book is translated using traditional liturgical English, as well as lyrical translations of the Sarum Sequences and Processionals put into easily singable hymn formats, and with well known tunes in mind. All services are adapted to the use of a small church or chapel, with clear rubrical instructions, and can be conducted easily by a single Priest and Clerk or altar server.
